A special feature of the press is the movable center beam. It not only moves horizontally, but also has the ability to move out of the press area and to move to the side to make room. The crosshead itself has two pressure brackets. One can be used for pressing and the other for unpressing. Or for pressing different elements.
This solution makes it possible to work on the same type of wheel set without having to readjust the tool and spend time adjusting it to a new task.
To improve the quality of the press and the repeatability of the cycle, the most advanced solutions have been applied in the press. These include axle centering. Separate hydraulic system for each power cylinder. A non-contact laser system to measure the linear accuracy of the press. And wheel runout monitoring directly in the press.
After the carriage loads the wheel axle into the press, the hydraulic cylinders' extension centers lock the axle to the press centerline. The spring-loaded centers fold inward as the press begins to press the wheel. In this way, the auxiliary force does not interfere with the force-path diagram. The centers have interchangeable 90- and 60-degree cones for different axle types.
Measurement - This is the part where we use the world's best practices. Bosch and Hiwin equipment is interchangeable, has high wear resistance of linear systems, holds declared loads and copes well with the harsh conditions of railroad depots.
Press controls. We most often choose the Japanese Omron. For the best price/performance ratio. It is well supported worldwide. If a customer asks for Siemens, we work with Siemens. It is probably the most developed system in the world at the moment. But!
